Hi there, I’m Pauline

I am a level 5 qualified TEFL teacher.

About me

I have always been interested in languages and at a young age, was determined to learn another language fluently. Coming from Northern Ireland I had the opportunity to learn Irish and found I was naturally good at it. I studied it right through school and university to doctorate level. I think I can say I achieved my goal!

I have also studied German, Spanish and French to varying degrees of success. I know what it feels like to sit in a class with a group of strangers and feel exposed and nervous. I draw on these experiences to help you feel comfortable but challenged in your lessons with me. I want you to feel the pride that I felt being able to communicate effectively in a language not my mother tongue.

Experience

I worked in a college of further education in Belfast teaching Irish to adults for a number of years. After moving to England I spent many years raising my own family. I returned to work in my local primary school. I used experience I gained helping my own children, to help other children develop skills and confidence with their reading. This includes not only native speaking children, but also a number of children who have English as a second language.
